Hydrogen generation and hydrogen power are subjects that I have been intensely involved in for over three years now. I have studied theory, I have researched methods, I have listened to “experts” and I have witnessed failures and successes. During this time of hands on experience I feel that I have earned a Masters Degree in hydrogen generation and use as a fuel catalyst in vehicles.
Why hydrogen? It is abundant, clean and natural. Burning hydrogen as a fuel produces virtually NO pollution, hydrogen is not destroyed but combined with oxygen as water. It is our “perfect” fuel!
The problem: Producing hydrogen has been an expensive and dirty. Until the development of our HFX4 Hydrogen Hybrid System, the cost of production has outweighed the financial benefits when gasoline was selling for $2 per gallon, even $3 per gallon. Additionally, materials used to manufacture hydrogen were not environmentally friendly. Think about how much greenhouse gas is produced while making stainless steel… and stainless steel is consumed in making hydrogen in over 90% of the generators currently available. They are being sold on eBay and touted on YouTube, there are do it yourself books written, and kitchen tables across America, heck around the world, are covered with stainless steel plates, washers, rods and mason jars trying to make the thing work! In the end many hours and often over $1,000 are spent trying to make a $200 hydrogen generator. When people then try to install the project it is too large for most smaller vehicles and it has wires and hoses going everywhere. Extra parts… as mentioned, a fortune is spent on extra gadgets in an attempt to make it work!
Additional problem: Over production of hydrogen! Can there be such a thing? Simply put… Yes! To utilize hydrogen as a fuel the engine needs a rather drastic retuning and even parts change. I do not know your level of knowledge about an internal combustion engine, so I will try to explain this in the simplest of terms. As the engine’s pistons move up on the compression stroke the air and gasoline are compressed into a space about 9 times smaller than when they were introduced into the cylinder. At this point (which is well before the piston reaches the top of the cylinder) the spark plug ignites the gasses and an explosion pushes the piston down (the power stroke). Hydrogen burns many times faster and hotter than gasoline. Therefore, if too much hydrogen is introduced into the engine the timing of the spark must be delayed until much closer to the top of the compression stroke or the explosion will try to push the piston down while it is trying to continue up. The result of this is actually reduced mileage and increased stress on the engine. To accommodate the additional hydrogen many would have you alter the timing of your engine. This does increase MPG and reduce emissions. But, it also usually violates EPA regulations and can actually be a crime! Not to mention being very expensive and could void your new car warranty! The HFX4 does not attempt to be fuel for the vehicle but simply a catalyst to more completely burn the wasted fuel already in the cylinders. In effect doing the job of the catalytic converter in the cylinder.
The third and actually largest problem: Negative press! Many back yard hydrogen experts are attempting to replace gasoline, and as discussed above, there are problems. Also, there has been a subtle but effective “negative spin” put on hydrogen that is preventing its widespread usage. Oil companies and oil producing countries are not stupid, they recognized the enemy years ago and have done a very good job of keeping it out of common use! Even our own country would have to drastically revamp its tax collection methods if hydrogen on demand was accepted as fuel for vehicles.
The solution: Find materials that work together to produce hydrogen at a lower cost per mile. Find a balance that provides the most benefit for the fewest dollars and just the right amount of hydrogen. Make a hydrogen generation system that is not complicated, a system that is very inexpensive to produce and maintain, is easy to install and service... a system that strikes the proper balance to be cost effective. And educate the masses about hydrogen and its uses.

A cleaner engine extends oil life, reduces emissions and improves power!
Conclusion: Done right, hydrogen is a very good thing for your vehicle. Hydrogen cleans your engine, reduces wear from carbon, extends oil life several thousand miles, while improving performance and increasing MPG. The HFX System does it right! No over production of hydrogen! HFX produced not one, but, sixteen different models to match hydrogen output to your engine size. Even without the benefit of improved mileage adding an HFX System to your vehicle is a very positive step financially and ecologically!
